About Andre Rieu
Children who grow up with dominating parents, especially top professional parents, who excel at what they do – know the felling: It always rubs on, in one way or the other, on their siblings. Sometimes the second generation does better, more often they can't reach their parents' heights. André Rieu, the son of a conductor, took his talents to another level.
During the last 30 years, the Dutch born violinist and conductor is performing all over the world with his creation, the famous Johann Strauss Orchestra, performing mostly classical music, but also pop and light jazz music. Over the years, his recordings have sold over 40 million copies and his world tours, which he goes on a yearly basis, are often close to the top of the biggest grossing tours.
When Rieu first started the Johann Strauss Orchestra, it was a modest 12-piece orchestra. Today, it is a full-blown 60-piece orchestra, that plays some of the biggest stages in the world. And not only that, but Rieu is known for the grandiose stage sets, often the world's largest mobile sets Such was the Princess Sissy Castle and such was the Vien's Schönbrunn Palace.
Over the years, Rieu has recorded dozens of albums. Among his most famous are: "From Holland With Love", "The Vienna I Love", "Romantic Moments", "100 Years of Strauss", "The Flying Dutchman", "Falling in Love" and "Amore".
Rieu's 2023-2024 world tour will run until June 2024, with stops over at Malta, United States, Canada, Slovenia, Austria, Germany, Slovakia, Holland, Belgium and the Czech Republic.
